Youth and Families
Welcome to the Greenpoint Shul Youth and Families Page!

At the heart of the Greenpoint Shul Youth Department lies a commitment to cultivating joyful, meaningful, and identity-shaping Jewish experiences for our youth of all religious and Jewish learning backgrounds - from public to private, to Jewish day or home schools.
Our aim is to nurture the next generation of engaged, inspired, and joyful Jews by offering educational, spiritual, and social programming tailored to each child’s unique journey. Our goal is to familiarize children with Jewish teachings, traditions, and values while cultivating a positive and personal connection to Judaism. We want every child to feel that Judaism belongs to them, that it is a source of wisdom, joy, and belonging.
We are inspired by the words of King Solomon’s Mishlei (Proverbs), who emphasized: “Educate a child according to their own path; even when they grow old, they will not turn away from it. חֲנֹךְ לַנַּעַר עַל פִּי דַרְכּוֹ, גַּם כִּי יַזְקִין לֹא יָסוּר מִמֶּנָּה (Proverbs 22:6). ” This verse underpins our philosophy: true chinuch (education) is not one-size-fits-all. Rather, it honors the individual path, personality, and spirit of each child.
We do this through:
1. Youth Program Calendar: Our Youth Department hosts weekly, monthly and quarterly programs for youth ages K-12th Grade. (Visit Page)
2. Hebrew School: Our Hebrew School’s mission is to nurture the next generation of inspired, knowledgeable, and joyful Jews through meaningful education that meets each child where they are. We offer engaging, hands-on, and spiritually rich programming from kindergarten through 8th grade, with supplemental Hebrew classes, B-Mitzvah prep, and a focus on personal and communal Jewish growth. Commitment to Communal Belonging for all Jews and our Loved Ones:
We are a community that celebrates religious diversity, and welcomes youth, parents, and families from all religious and faith backgrounds. We recognize that how we believe and what we believe is different, and stand behind our values of ahavas yisroel, loving all Jews, our loved ones, and ultimately all of humanity.
A Youth Committee of educators, parents, and volunteers will support and advise the Youth Director in shaping programming, curriculum, and vision for the year ahead.
