What is Halacha? Halacha is the unbroken chain of over two thousand year old traditions that is a radically human, spiritual framework which brings relational and joyful Judaism, Jewish practice and HaShem into everyday life.

Halacha Happy Hour is a weekly, low-pressure, high-depth learning space where Jewish law comes alive. Over drinks and conversation, we explore halacha not as a list of restrictions, but as a living spiritual language that shapes time, relationships, and ethics.

Together, we’ll ask big questions: How can ancient laws help us live with more intention, freedom, and connection today? How has halacha evolved? Why is Shabbos the most sacred holiday in the Jewish calendar? How does Shabbat shape time, Jewish time, Jewish faith and Jewish destiny? How does learning the laws of holidays enrich my holiday experience?

Led by Rabbi Isaiah Rothstein, This 2026 Winter and Spring Series Focuses On:

  • What halacha is and how it works

  • Honoring and preparing for Shabbat

  • Shamor and Zachor—Guarding and Remembering time

  • What “Melacha” really means

  • The 39 categories of melacha and their meaning for modern life

  • Hilchot Purim, The Laws of Purim

  • Hilchot Pesach, The Laws of Pesach

  • Hilchot Kashrut, The Laws of Kashrut

  • Hilchot Tefillah V’ Beit HaKenesset, The Laws of Jewish Prayer and the Shul

Each session blends classical sources, contemporary questions, and real-life application, designed to be welcoming, serious, rooted, interactive, and accessible to learners of all backgrounds. No prior knowledge required.
