Naomi Wolfensohn President

After moving to the Long Island City, Naomi one day in 2002 walked through the surrounding neighborhoods looking for a synagogue when she came upon the Greenpoint Shul. She has been a member ever since, and has served on the Board since 2003, first as Secretary and since 2007 as President. Naomi is an attorney and a director of a private investment company in New York. She lives in Long Island City with her husband, Jascha.

Harold Bretstein Vice-President

"Bret" came to the Greenpoint shul in 1986. Rabbi Zipper (Chazzan and later Rabbi of the shul from 1948 to 2007) was a life-long family friend. From 1999 to 2001, Bret served as President of the Synagogue. For many years, Bret was also gabbai to Rabbi Zipper. A New York City teacher for 35 years, Bret is retired but keeps an active schedule in his work for The Middle College National Consortium. He travels extensively in his role as coach to its member schools. His pride and joy are his two grandchildren.

Adam Perlmutter Secretary

Adam served as president of the synagogue from 2001 to 2007. Starting in fall 2007, he will serve as secretary to the Board. Adam lives in Greenpoint with his wife, Barbara McGlamery, and son Lorenzo. He is the principal of the Law Offices of Adam D. Perlmutter, where his practice focuses on criminal defense and public interest litigation. Adam previoulsy served as an Assistant District Attorney in Queens County where he prosecuted violent felony crimes. He graduated with honors from both Columbia University and the University of Wisconsin Law School.

Jascha Preuss Treasurer

Jascha has been a member of the Greenpoint Shul since 2003 and was elected Treasurer in 2007. He also heads the the Shul's committee for religious questions, whose tasks include addressing questions of the synagogue service and rabbinic leadership. Jascha is an attorney in private practice in New York and lives in Long Island City with his wife, Naomi.
